We have revisited our fantastic Trans Dolomites trip for E-Bikes!
Dolomites are perfect terrain for E-Bikes, cycle up dirt roads at the uphill, possiblity to recharge the E-Bike at the refuggio while having a tasty italian coffee and ride singletracks on descent!
A real E-Bike heaven!

Huge rose coloured towering cliffs define these rocky ‘mountainous islands’ which we experience in their majestic scale; dry rocky technical singletracks, fast descents, lush green pastures and traditional Tyrolean chalets.

Mountain biking the Dolomites, the dream has become true!

The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these mountains are unique. The Dolomites are home to a hardy population as proud of their historic culture and region as the mountains which stand here, with a grace and warmth which echoes the pink hues the rocky cliff faces exude.

The Schedule : arrival Saturday

DAY 1 of arrival (Saturday) : Meet and great' by ourselves at Bolzano train station, Italy. A 30 minute transfer will drive us to our cosy hotel at the foot of the huge rocky cliffs of the Rosengarten. Unpacking and preparation of bikes.

DAY 2 (Sunday) : Welcome in the Dolomites.
The first ride in the Dolomites is always a fantastic experience! We will contour the Rosengarten range by the south, riding one of these famous mountain side singletracks with a breathtaking view over the huge range of the Dolomiti d'Ampezzo!
Night in Refugio ( mountain hut wich is more like an hotel with fantastic italian food)

DAY 3 (Monday) : A new balcony trail along a singletrack under the unforgettable cliffs of the Sasso Piato enabling us to gain 500m of altitude through this beautiful mountain landscape of the Val Duron. Contouring the Sasso Piato and Sella Ronda to Passo Gardena by singletrack is amazing, and involves some short hike-a-bike section in some places!
The arrival to Passo Gardena will leave you voice less as the view and Dolimiti di Fanes and Dolomite di Senes is mind blowing!
A short stop in a mountain hut for a cappucino and there we go for a long fun descent to the tyrolian style town of Alta Badia.

DAY 4 (Tuesday) : A warm up climb to the Passo Falzarego, under the watchful eye of the giant peaks of the Pic des Conturines (3012m) will take us to Passo Valparola then to Passo Falzarego. From the Passo Falzarego, a new dream singletrack awaits us, contouring the mountainside at the foot of the cliffs of the imposing Tofane (3244m) which dominate the famous valley of Cortina d'Ampezzo where we stay for few nights.
This singletrack has lots of ups and downs with techy rocky sections, short hike-a-bike sections and stuning sceneries and finishes in the picturesque town of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

DAY 5 (Wednesday) : A short transfer will drop us at the entry of Fanes Park for a long climb on dirt road to acces to the altitude plateau of Fanes where a coffee stop in Refugio di Fanes is very welcome !
We are in the heart of the Dolomites at 2500 metres ! A short technical descent on singletrack then comes the short but killer ascent to Refugio Fodara in the heart of the park di Dolomiti di Senes ! A long descent back to Cortina d'Ampezzo, a beer and a pizza will be the reward of the long day.

DAY 6 (Thursday) : A great day on the program! We will ride at the foot of the super famous and mythic Tre Cime di Lavaredo! From refugio Auronzo a techy descent of 1000 meters 100% singletrack followed by a long uphill to acces to Refugio Fratelli for the mandatory coffee stop! A traversing trail with ups and downs will take us to passo Tre Croci and then bomb down to Cortina d'Ampezzo via a fun and flowy singletrack directly at the accomodation.

DAY 7 (Friday) : The scenic grassy shoulder of Pralongia os teasing us since the beginning of the week so we have to ride it!!! The climb to reach the top is on a large dirt road and the view coffee stop at the refugio is breathtaking. A techy descent to Arraba to catch the cable car and we are facing the highest summit and the only glacier of the Dolomites : the Marmolada (3343m). The traversing singletrack to passo Pordoi is absolutly fantastic!
A last technical and fun descent to Canazei and a last beer and it is time to pack the bikes.
Dismantle and pack bikes ready for departure the following day.

Day 8 : departure day (Saturday) : early Departure to Bolzano or stay another night and appreciate this beautiful city…



NB: this tour is run with a minimum of 4 clients. Lunches on Saturday of arrival and Saturday of departure are not included, but can be arranged at an additional cost.

difficulty
  • You ride 2-3 times a week for 1h30 non stop minimum (road or mtb).
  • You can ride at aerobic pace with short anaerobic sections without excessive fatigue.
  • You are able to cycle 4-5 hours per day.
  • You are able to climb 800 meters vertical ascent ( 2400 feet) a day for 3-5 days and can push or carry your bike uphill or downhill on short sections( few meters).
  • You like to challenge yourself

  • You can manage your balance uphill and downhill on loose gravels, rocks and roots.
  • You feel confident in riding singletrack with few roots and rocks, on dry or wet terrain.
  • You can ride short rock garden of 30 meters.
  • You feel confident riding downhill for about 20 minutes non stop.
  • You able able to go up and down a step of about 20 centimeters.
  • You can handle switchbacks.
  • You can ride with a little exposure at times and would like to improve your skills.
  • YOUR BIKE
  • The best option is to ride on your own mountain bike, as it is familiar to you.
  • PLEASE NO XC bikes or short travel bikes (below 130mm)
  • A full suspension bike with at least 130 mm of front and back travel is required.
  • You need to have big grippy tires front and back, minimum 2.3 solid casing.
  • Possibility of renting a full suspension bike from 365 euros a week in the local sports stores (list on request).

    From easy to very technical singletracks (some very technical) 'rocky and rooty' trails.

    Accomodation
    You'll be accomodated in hotels every night. They all have hot showers and a safe place to store the bikes. Rooms are shared from two to four persons. They offer good comfort and make it really possible to rest after a good day of mountain biking! Single room option: 490 euros supplement (rates from the 12/2018) Possibility of washing and repairing the bicycles at the hotels.

    They are taken at the hotel (breakfast and dinner) The food and wines in Italy are amazing! Breakfast is usually continental breakfast. Dinner is 4 courses in huuuge portions! At lunchtime, a genuine cold meal, generally composed of varied salads, pork-butchery, regional products, etc.

    Our gourmet sandwiches are now reknown as we love to prepare some " deeluxe" lunch for fill your biker's hungry stomchs! So we provide a different sandwich freshly prepared everyday with delicious bread ( organic or whole wheat when possible) and local specialities. In addition we propose unlimited acces to trail snack and fruits!

    Pick up / Drop Off / Meeting point
    The closest international airport is VERONA / ITALY, about one hour and half transfer from the meeting point in BOLZANO. The pick up and drop off from / to VERONA airport are NOT included in the price of the trip. You will meet your guide and driver in BOLZANO. Please do not assemble your bike before you have arrived in at the hotel you'll stay in on saturday evening. Dependding wich trip you ride , you can leave your bike box safely at the hotel and find it back on friday
